Catechesis (from the Greek catecheo, meaning "instruction") is the Church’s ministry of instructing Christians about believing in Christ, belonging to Christ, and becoming like Christ. Catechism at Church of the Vine is also a great way for those unfamiliar with the faith to explore what it means to be a Christian, and there is even a section in our curriculum dedicated to taking a first step of faith by beginning with Christ. While the entirety of our curriculum, To Be A Christian: An Anglican Catechism, is drawn from Holy Scripture, catechesis is not primarily a Bible study - it is in-depth formation in:

The Creed (Faith)
The Lord's Prayer (Hope)
The Ten Commandments (Love)

Catechesis at Church of the Vine is an integral part of how we:

  • Help seekers explore the faith.

  • Form non-Christians prior to Baptism.

  • Prepare parents who would like to have their children baptized.

  • Prepare new members for Confirmation and reception into the Anglican Church.

  • Disciple those seeking a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

We encourage you to join our mailing list, or contact us directly, to inquire about upcoming Catechesis classes. If you are interested in Baptism or Confirmation, or have other questions around these topics, please contact sean@churchofthevine.org

Dr. Nijay Gupta visited Church of the Vine (virtually) as our guest Catechist to teach us about the Lord's Prayer. Enjoy!
